The Battle of Peritoneum

Prolouge

Bullets raced past my forehead, like a hawk swoops down to catch it's prey. I just hoped I would make it out of here, and as an added bonus, I could get out alive.

My brother, Ashton, had been killed while on a mission. He was a spy, but a nasty bullet to the head made him pass out. He didn't die from that. He died when the control room at the enemies base blew up. The rest of his squadron thought he was already dead. They just saw him get shot in the head. So they planted a bomb on a heat generator filled with gasoline.

“THROW THE GRENADE! THROW IT! NOW!” I shouted this at the top of my lungs so that my long time friend, Rob Fisherman, could hear me. Thank God I snapped back to reality.

Rob was a laid back man who liked to keep to himself. The first time I ever met Rob was when he joined my squadron. I remember that day. He was drunk. He threw a beer bottle at me. I said “Welcome to the team.”

I don't know why anyone would name a city Peritoneum. It is a weird name, but somehow, interesting. Many people found the town fun. There were so many attractions that were great for all ages. Not only that, but it made millions of dollars each month. Unfortunately, it became too much and this war started over who could have it. The USA, or Japan.

Japan wanted the money from Peritoneum, and said what happened to Hiroshima could happen on the USA's turf. But not on Peritoneum. Peritoneum was way too valuable to lose. The town had too many citizens and too much money. Japan really wanted Peritoneum. So they bombed Grand Junction, MI. Grand Junction was a small town and they didn't use a powerful bomb. That is why the battle for Peritoneum started.

The Battle of Peritoneum

Chapter 1

A Tough Nut to Crack

It was hard to be in a battle. You were constantly being yelled at. Or you were watching your friends die in front of your eyes. That was the toughest thing of all.

Mom was extremley depressed. Her son, the one thing that was keeping her going after Dad's death, was Ashton. Now he was dead. I tried comforting her but nothing seemed to help. Two weeks later, Mom died. She had had brain cancer. The timing was just horrifying. She was walking out of her room. She fell down on the ground, dead. No suffering. No pain. Just death.

There was an enemy patrol officer paroling the abandoned grocery store. We were stuck, crouching for a bit. I decided to just get it over with and shoot the dang guy. BANG! One life over with, God knows how many left. As the officer's limp, lifeless body rolled toward me, I noticed a small object roll out of his jacket. It was a small, C4 filled, sound triggered bomb.

I made a decision. I signaled to the red and blue team leaders that if they fired their guns, they would have their butts on a silver platter. Right next to a mushroom...cloud.I slowly creeped up to the bomb. The store was right next to a cliff, which about 500 feet below was a lake about 200 feet deep.

I picked up the bomb and hurled it over the store and over the cliff. I heard the boom even when the bomb was under the water. The noise shook the ground and guns started firing. They stopped once they realized there was no threat. The cloud of smoke rose up and covered the store and most of the cliff. I had just saved the teams life.

We walked towards the other side of the cliff. I noticed that there was a man hanging from the edge. I could tell he was one of the enemy. I figured we could get some info out of him. I walked towards him and he screamed.

“Please! Let me live! I will tell you everything! DEAR GOD LET ME LIVE!”

I started to lift him up. He had some kind of a mask on. When I lifted him up, the mask fell off. I saw his face for just a moment. It looked a heck of a lot like Ashton. That was when I dropped him.

As I watched him fall, his faced changed to a normal, inoccent man that we could have gotten loads of information from.

“Hey! What the heck? You just let go of that guy! You IDIOT!”

I looked back to see who had yelled at me so he could join the man I just let go of.

“HEY! WHO JUST YELLED AT ME?”

Then I noticed Rob had switched the place his gun was pointing from where the man was hanging to straight at my face.

He walked to the edge of the cliff, looked over it, looked back at me, and put the gun to his own head.

“Rob! Don't do it! You have so much to live for!”

“Thats what my parents said. And they both shoved a katana through their throughts.”BANG! BANG!

I watched his body fall over the edge of the cliff and into the water below.

And that was the end of Rob Fisherman.
